Trent leads the VALORANT Champions Shanghai player rating table after the tournament’s eight opening series. The G2 player posted a 1.66 rating in the two-map win over TYLOO, ahead of Karmine Corp’s N4RRATE at 1.62, 100 Thieves’ Cryocells at 1.52 and LOUD’s tkzin at 1.51. Every player has completed only one series, so the table is an early snapshot rather than a final ranking.
Trent’s position comes from a compact 35-round sweep. He finished the two maps with 38 kills, 17 deaths and 20 assists, producing a 2.24 kill-death ratio and 91 percent KAST. His 287 average combat score was not the highest in the field, but the combination of survival, trades and round involvement lifted his overall rating above the other opening performers.
N4RRATE finished close behind after Karmine Corp’s two-map win over Xi Lai Gaming. He recorded 39 kills and 19 deaths with a 1.62 rating, while his 313 ACS exceeded trent’s figure. Ten first kills against two first deaths show the different shape of the performance: N4RRATE generated more opening pressure, while trent’s line included a higher KAST and more assists.
Cryocells occupies third after 100 Thieves swept T1. His 45 kills were the largest total among the first three players, and he did not record a first death across 43 rounds. Tkzin follows at 1.51 after LOUD’s victory over EDward Gaming, combining 47 kills with a tournament-leading 321 ACS among the top four. Those numbers demonstrate why one ordered rating column does not answer every performance question.
Different metrics reward different opening games
Rating is designed to summarize several forms of impact, while ACS emphasizes combat events such as damage, multikills and early kills. KAST measures the share of rounds in which a player produced a kill, assist, survival or trade. A player can therefore lead one category without leading the others, especially when match lengths range from 35 to 69 rounds.
Tkzin’s 321 ACS and 47 kills came across 39 rounds, reflecting a high-frequency attacking performance in LOUD’s sweep. Trent’s 91 percent KAST shows broader round-to-round presence, while N4RRATE’s 10-2 first-kill record captures the value of creating five times as many opening wins as opening losses. Cryocells paired eight first kills with no first death, another route to early control.
The next cluster reinforces the point. Mada, Avez and KROSTALY are tied at a 1.39 rating, but their lines are not identical. Mada finished 34/23/16, Avez 33/17/10 and KROSTALY 34/18/6. Avez and KROSTALY produced stronger kill-death ratios, while mada added more assists. The shared rating does not make their roles or contribution patterns interchangeable.
Something provides the clearest warning about comparing totals without opportunity. He leads the listed group with 58 kills, but Paper Rex played 60 rounds in a three-map victory over Team Liquid. Trent played 25 fewer rounds because G2 swept TYLOO quickly. Something’s 1.38 rating remains strong, yet his raw kill lead partly reflects the larger sample available in a longer series.
The same sample issue affects every early ranking. A dominant short match can create extreme efficiency, while a close three-map series exposes a player to more difficult rounds and more chances for both positive and negative events. Opponent strength, map pool and side distribution also differ. The table is most useful as a record of what happened, not a forecast that the order will survive the next week.
Team results shape the list as well. All eight named leaders won their opening series, and seven came from teams that swept. That does not mean strong individual performances occurred only on winning teams; it means decisive victories often create favorable survival and differential statistics. As elimination matches begin, standout players from losing teams will receive another opportunity to change the event table.
The leaders now face stronger resistance
The first winners matches place several leaders directly against each other. Trent’s G2 faces something’s Paper Rex in Group C. N4RRATE and Avez meet mada’s NRG in Group D. Cryocells and KROSTALY will be on opposite sides of the Group A winners match, while tkzin’s LOUD faces Team Vitality in Group B. The next round therefore reduces the number of favorable opponent comparisons.
Maintaining an early rating against another opening winner is a different task from producing it in an opener. The new opponents have match data from Shanghai, can adjust their vetoes and have already shown they can win a series on patch 13.05. Even a player who remains influential may see the numerical rating fall as the competition becomes closer.
The responsible benchmark is not whether trent stays at exactly 1.66. It is whether the underlying qualities continue: involvement in most rounds, positive trading, controlled deaths and impact that helps G2 qualify. The same test applies to every name behind him. September 28 records the first complete statistical checkpoint, not the tournament’s final individual hierarchy.
